On 7 June, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG) and Head of MINURSO Alexander Ivanko alongside the Mission Force Commander Major General MD Fakhrul Ahsan (Bangladesh) presided over a ceremony of the Change of Command between the 12th and 13th Bangladeshi Medical Units (BMU) at the Mission’s HQ in Laayoune. 

In his remarks, the SRSG hailed the excellent work of the departing members and wished full success to the newly arrived BMU staff members. He and the Force Commander then awarded the UN Medal to the BMU military members in recognition of their service in MINURSO.
