Progress on Enlargement of the Agios Dometios/Metehan Crossing Point

Members and co-chairs of the Technical Committee on Crossings, together with representatives of the United Nations Good Offices Mission and UNFICYP, visited the ongoing expansion works at the Agios Dometios/Metehan crossing point in the buffer zone. The visit was to see the progress of the EU-funded upgrade being implemented by UNDP Cyprus - expected to be completed around the end of January 2026. The Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Cyprus (OSASG-Cyprus) is mandated to support the Secretary-General’s Good Offices in facilitating negotiations between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders, with the aim of achieving a comprehensive and lasting settlement to the Cyprus issue
