On 16 December, MINURSO celebrated Kazakhstan National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune .

Kazakhstan Independence Day marks the day in 1991 when the Supreme Soviet of the USSR adopted a law on the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following its independence, Kazakhstan has worked extensively with multilateral organizations and contributes women and men to UN peacekeeping operations all over the world, including MINURSO.

The blue color of Kazakhstan’s flag  represents pure sky, peace and prosperity, while the golden eagle reflects the aspirations of the state to soar to the heights of world civilization.
