On 07 March 2023, SRSG and Head of MINURSO Alexander Ivanko, alongside the Acting Force Commander Major General Chowdhury Md Main Ullah, the Chief of Mission Support Veneranda Mukandoli-Jefferson, the Mission COS, Nick Birnback, and the DFC, Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye as well as MINURSO military and civilian personnel; presided over the ceremony of awarding the United Nations Medal to MINURSO Military Observers (UNMOs) who completed their assignments in MINURSO. In his remarks, SRSG particularly noted the important work accomplished by MINURSO’s UNMOs in today’s exceptionally challenging environment.
