A MINURSO delegation led by Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye participated in the funeral service held on 25 March in Accra, Ghana, for the late Brigadier General Constance Emefa Edjeani-Afenu, “our Constance”, who sadly passed away in January 2022, after returning to her home country of Ghana at the end of her tour of duty in the Mission in December 2021. The members of the MINURSO delegation were warmly welcomed by the Ghanaian authorities upon their arrival and during their stay in Accra. During the service, Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye read a message on behalf of MINURSO in front of the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, as well as Ghanaian senior civilian and military officials, underlining Constance’s outstanding and exemplary career and stellar service as MINURSO Deputy Force Commander. The whole of MINURSO was proud to learn that Constance was awarded the title of Major General posthumously. At the military cemetery in Accra, the MINURSO delegation laid a wreath in honour of our esteemed and beloved former colleague.
