Change of Command of Malaysian Medical Units

On Monday 17 May at the Main Court of the MINURSO HQ, El Aiun, at the presence of the OiC of the Mission Maj. Gen. Zhao Jiming (Ch-Ar), was held the ceremony of change of Command between MMU (Malaysian Medical Unit) VIII (outgoing) and the MMU IX (ongoing).

On Monday 17 May at the Main Court of the MINURSO HQ, El Aiun, at the presence of the OiC of the Mission Maj. Gen. Zhao Jiming (Ch-Ar), was held the ceremony of change of Command between MMU (Malaysian Medical Unit) VIII (outgoing) and the MMU IX (ongoing).
The MMU VIII spent six months of duty in the Mission Area providing medical services to the personnel of MINURSO and to the beneficiaries of the exchange families' programme of the UNHCR-led CBM (Confidence Building Measures). The MMU provide emergency medical assistance also to local civilian population in case of emergency.
The ceremony was attended by all the mission leadership and the civilian and military personnel.
The OiC of the Mission Maj. Gen. Zhao Jiming (Ch-Ar) in his address thanked warmly the outgoing medical contingent for their tireless dedication to the health of the UN staff, often carried out in emergency circumstances.
The Maj. Gen. Zhao Jiming (Ch-Ar) welcomed the ongoing contingent in the MINURSO family wishing to them a fruitful professional and human experience sure that the performances of medical services of MINURSO will continue to remain high.
The medical service of MINURSO was provided between 1991 and 1994 from Switzerland, from 1994 to 2006 by a contingent from Republic of Korea and from 2006 to date by Malaysia.
