MINURSO’S PEACEKEEPERS: NATIONAL DAY OF POLAND

On 11 November, MINURSO celebrated Poland's Independence Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune next to the UN flag.

The Day marks the restoration of Poland’s independence in 1918 after over a century of territorial division and foreign rule.

The country joined UN peacekeeping operations in 1973  and has been sending peacekeepers  to UN Peacekeeping Operations worldwide including MINURSO since then.

The national flag of Poland consists of two horizontal stripes of equal width, the upper one white and the lower one red.

While the white  color represents the white eagle,  the  red color  represents the field of the coat of arms.

Dziȩkujȩ Polsko!
