MINURSO’S PEACEKEEPERS: NATIONAL DAY OF GUINEA

On 2 October, MINURSO raised the flag of Guinea at the Mission's headquarters in Laayoune to commemorate the country’s National Day.

This Day marks the declaration by Guinea of its independence from France on 2 October 1958.

Guinea is a major contributor of troops to UN peacekeeping operations with more than 716 military and police personnel deployed worldwide, including four in MINURSO.

The red color in Guinea’s flag stands for sacrifice, the yellow represents the sun and the green the vegetation of the country.

Bonne fête nationale Guinée!
