On Wednesday 21 December 2022, MINURSO held a military parade in honor of the newly arrived Acting Force Commander, Major General Chowdhury Md Main Ullah of Bangladesh, who arrived in Laayoune on 20th December 2022. On behalf of SRSG Ivanko, Ms. Veneranda Mukandoli-Jefferson, Chief of Mission Support and Officer-in-Charge of MINURSO, welcomed Major General Chowdhury Md Main Ullah. She stated that the Mission was pleased to have him onboard considering his wide experience in different missions and assured him of full cooperation in dealing with the mission’s several challenges since the breakdown of the ceasefire in November 2020. Ms. Mukandoli-Jefferson also expressed her gratitude to Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye of Ghana for leading the MINURSO military component since March 2022. The parade was attended by both MINURSO military and civilian personnel.
