On 4 April 2022, MINURSO celebrated the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. The SRSG and Head of the Mission, Alexander Ivanko, read a message from the Secretary-General calling on all states to sign The Mine Ban Convention “to rid the world of the scourge of landmines once and for all”. Afterwards, the SRSG opened a photo exhibition on mine action activities in MINURSO and across the world. During the event, MINURSO personnel enthusiastically participated in a series of quizzes aimed at raising awareness of the dangers posed by mines and explosive remnants of war. The exhibition will remain open in the MINURSO cafeteria until 7 April.
