On 13 January 2023, the MINURSO Acting Force Commander Major General Chowdhury Md Main Ullah (Bangladesh), Officer-in-Charge of MINURSO, alongside the Mission COS, Nick Birnback, and the DFC, Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye; presided over the ceremony of the Change of Command between the 11th and 12th Bangladeshi Medical Units. In his remarks, Major General Chowdhury hailed in particular the excellent and professional work of the departing members especially during the critical times of COVID-19 pandemic and wished full success for the newly arrived BMU staff members. The United Nations Medal was awarded by the Mission leadership to the leaving BMU military members in recognition of their service in MINURSO.
