On 06 March, MINURSO celebrated Ghana’s National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune next to the UN flag. On this day, Ghana marks its independence from the United Kingdom in 1957.
On 21 February, the SRSG and Head of MINURSO Alexander Ivanko alongside the Mission Force Commander, Major General Fakhrul Ahsen presided over a ceremony at MINURSO HQ commemorating the International Mother Language Day.
MINURSO’S PEACEKEEPERS: NATIONAL DAY OF NEPAL
On 19 February, MINURSO celebrated Nepal National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune next to the UN flag.
On 16 February 2024, a military parade was held at MINURSO HQ in Laayoune for the handover ceremony between the Brigadier-General Gabriel Esho from Nigeria as the new Deputy Force Commander and the departing DFC Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye.
On 04 February, MINURSO celebrated Sri Lanka National Day Independence Day by raising the country’s flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune next to the UN flag.
On 10 January 2024, the SRSG and Head of MINURSO Alexander Ivanko, together with Force Commander Major General Md Fakhrul Ahsan, presided over the ceremony of awarding the UN Medal to MINURSO Military Observers (UNMOs).
On 17 December, MINURSO celebrated Bhutan National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune.
Today, Bangladeshi militaries observed the 52nd Victory Day by hoisting the flag of Banglaseh at MINURSO Headquarters in Laayoune.
On 16 December, MINURSO celebrated Kazakhstan National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune .
