On Monday 17 May at the Main Court of the MINURSO HQ, El Aiun, at the presence of the OiC of the Mission Maj. Gen. Zhao Jiming (Ch-Ar), was held the ceremony of change of Command between MMU (Malaysian Medical Unit) VIII (outgoing) and the MMU IX (ongoing).

On 29 April 2010 at MINURSO HQ, Laayoune, was held the Team Sites Commanders Conference. The Conference was chaired by the Force Commander Major-General Zhao and inaugurated by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara and head of MINURSO Mr. Hany Abdel-Aziz.

There are not only sandy dunes in the landscape of the Western Sahara desert. Since 1976, an unknown quantity of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) lay scattered across the vast territory.
