MINURSO’s peacekeepers: National Day of France
On 14 July, MINURSO hoisted France’s national flag at Mission Headquarters in celebration of the country’s National Day.
France has been a United Nations member since its establishment in 1945 and is one of the five permanent members of the Security Council. It ranks as the sixth-largest financial contributor to UN peacekeeping operations.
Known as “Bastille Day” in English, France’s National Day marks the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789—an event symbolizing the French Republic’s commitment to defending human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Bonne fête nationale!
