Hervé Ladsous, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, arrived in Laayoune on 10 October. He will be visiting MINURSO to review operations and to meet with the Mission leadership. He plans to travel to two Team Sites, west and east of the berm, as well as to Tindouf and Rabat where he will meet with officials from both parties, Morocco and Polisario.

"I am thrilled to come here to MINURSO and to discuss with colleagues the challenges the Mission's faces. I look forward to meeting our Military Observers in the team sites who under difficult conditions are doing a noble job," said Ladsous.

This is the first visit by the Head of UN Peacekeeping to MINURSO since 1998.
