Medal Parade 5 March 2010

On 5 February 2010 the Secretary General's Special Representative for Western Sahara and Head of MINURSO, Mr. Hany Abdel Aziz, accompanied by the Force Commander, Major General Jiming Zhao, and the presence of all personnel of the HQ, in the mission's parade ground, awarded a group of Military Observers from Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Ghana, Malaysia and Pakistan with the UN Medal.

On 5 February 2010 the Secretary General's Special Representative for Western Sahara and Head of MINURSO, Mr. Hany Abdel Aziz, accompanied by the Force Commander, Major General Jiming Zhao, and the presence of all personnel of the HQ, in the mission's parade ground, awarded a group of Military Observers from Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Ghana, Malaysia and Pakistan with the UN Medal.

The UN Medal is awarded to military and police personnel in service for the UN after a period of six months of duty after full requirements of eligibility.

The Special Representative of the Secretary General, addressing the awarded officers , thanked them for their tireless commitment at service of peace, carried out in a difficult operational and environmental context.

The Head of Mission also stressed the constant need to maintain high the operational standards of the MINURSO and a strong adherence to the ethical and moral values of the UN.
